Dear Forum,
I have my own license for Visual Composer 5.0.
Can I enter my own license number into the Visual Composer in order to use the latest version with Newspaper 7? Or will this cause havoc with the Newspaper 7 install?
Should I wait for a Newspaper 7 update with the Visual Composer 5.0 update included?
Right now, my Visual Composer inside the WordPress dashboard is showing the version active of 4.12. This version seems kinda old.
Please advise.

I think some folks are using their own licensed versions, with the theme, but not tested. Remember theme has some custom blocks, and as long as there is no conflict with the new additions, might work okay.
You can always try it, then go back if things not working right. 🙂
4.12x isn’t that old, really.

Normally you get a new version of the plugin with the next full theme update.
You can try it out as Chris suggests but if something goes wrong, make sure you roll back to the previous version of the plugin. As it is a version change it will probably need a few adjustments from the theme side. Worst case scenario…you will get a php error or a white screen so you will have to rename the plugins folder and roll back to your previous version of VC. There is nothing wrong in registering your plugin if you already have a copy, it’s just that we did not get the change to implement the correct fixes if something goes wrong.
