I upgraded to v3.7 and I followed your guide how to deinstaller Visual Composer (deleting the /wpbakery directory).
The strange thing is that there is no hint in the backend that I should install the Visual Composer as a plugin. Even more strange: although the VC files are deleted I can still use the old Visual Composer in the articles.
How can I fix it?
Why I wanted to upgrade is because the wordpress visual editor is not working any more.

If the message not show for you, you can install the VC manually, the plugin is located in plugins folder in Theme: http://screencast.com/t/0ZmPHTuZR0
