Visual Composer problem while migrating from Magazinly to Newspaper 6.4

Hello,

I’ve purchased and installed Newspaper 6.4 on my site using Magazinly, as I’ver read it would be a direct migration process. I’ve installed Visual Composer plugin from Newspaper control panel.

Now Visual Composer codes seem not to be correctly interpreted. You can see the main page appearance under Magazinly theme here: http://postimg.org/image/jye2revtb/

Also, trying to edit the page, Visual Composer toolbox seem not to include the needed items, as you can see here: http://postimg.org/image/se3n8wyof/

I’ve tried to run the script that updates shortcodes from Newspaper 4 format, but it returns an error (no Newspaper 4 found) and now the site is off. No way to access the wordpress admin panel (empty html page returned by the server). Now trying to restore it from backup

Any advice about the Magazinly to Newspaper 6 migration?

There is a simple fix,you need to install V6 with a fresh install because it’s like a new theme,people that using newpaper V4 can move over to V6 with out much issues,because it was build for that but not the “Magazinly theme”

So it’s best you delete the theme “Magazinly” and start with a fresh install with V6 with out having a bunch of issues also update ur VC plugin to work with V6…and very important do a BACKUP..

I switched from Magazinly to Twenty Fifteen theme, deleted Magazinly, instaled and activated Newspaper 6, installed Visual Composer (the last version, included within Newspaper theme, as downloaded yesterday).
Same result as before:
– The page shows as following: http://postimg.org/image/cr7shsvin/
– Visual Composer seem not to have any tagdiv element to add to the page being edited: http://postimg.org/image/se3n8wyof/

¿Any advice about thois?

You will need to re-create your home page, sidebars, menus, as they are two totally different themes.

That solved it. Now I just have to re-create the pages of the site.
