Hi dsaperu,
What version of theme and WordPress are you using? if you are using WP 5.5 or 5.5.1 then you must use Newsmag V 4.9.5
If the problem persists, check the plugin conflict, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Let me know the results!
Thank you!

Hi,

I have the same problem

no updates possible

Newsmag 4.9.5 , latest WP version
I disabled all plugins and still can’t save an update

Hi,
Please try these steps:
Disable tagDiv Composer and delete it, then reinstall the plugin from Newsmag > plugins.
If this is still not working, you can install a plugin that can help, this plugin is Enable jQuery Migrate Helper.
Let me know the results!
Thank you!

Hi Calin! Boy, I showed up to the topic I almost posted about!

I was hired to make changes to the frontend and solve editing issues, but I have the exact same problem by going into developer mode and noticed the JQuery is a little deprecated, so I enabled Migrate Helper and started to work on fixes. I also found out despite any of that, the Theme itself is meant to automatically update and is trapped in v4.5 and not v4.9.5, so it’s missed a few runs.
I also deleted tagDiv and reinstalled it, it’s stuck in the same infinite load… now I am here!
How do I bring our theme to the future?

Update:

I did what you’ve suggested but upon deleting tagDiv to reinstall it, it now cannnot update at all, showing the error:

“The plugin does not have a valid header.
Downloading installation package from https://islandsocialtrends.com/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/includes/plugins/td-composer.zip…
Download failed. Forbidden”

PLEASE FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY, OR SEND A COPY OF THE OLD PLUGIN FOR NOW.

This suggestion has completely obliterated the frontend!!
Help!!

Hi BrookelinePublishingHouseInc-online, to fix this problem you’ll need to update the theme to last version and this time you’ll need to do it manually, but first please make a full backup to your website and database, and only after that update the theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ please use method B ( Update the theme via FTP) after the theme is update, make sure that you update the theme plugins too and check to see if there are still some problems with tagDiv Composer.
Also the above steps with deleting tagDiv Composer and reinstall it is working only if you already have the last theme version, v4.9.5 only this version is compatible with WordPress v5.5 and v5.5.1
Let me know the results!

Hi Calin, after acquiring the right permissions, the theme is now updated to 4.9.5 using method B! Most, but not all things have migrated over, save the fact that preserving the settings key didn’t actually do anything, but it’s still magnitudes better than what was before.

There still one glaring issue, which started this whole thing. tagDiv Composer still loads infinitely, even with updating all of the plugins as suggested from your link, and with your new patches.

In the developer-mode console when trying to use the composer, this error is prevalent:

“Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘toString’ of undefined
at td_wp_admin.min.js:18
at td_wp_admin.min.js:21
js_files_for_wrapper.min.js:758 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘toString’ of undefined

at js_files_for_wrapper.min.js:798
post.php:4967 Uncaught ReferenceError: QTags is not defined
at post.php:4967”

After a bit of space, there is also the following:

“js_files_for_wrapper.min.js:380 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘isIe8’ of undefined
at HTMLIFrameElement.loadIframe (js_files_for_wrapper.min.js:380)
at HTMLIFrameElement.dispatch (jquery.js:3)

at r (ace.js:10)
at Object.a [as require] (ace.js:10)
at post.php:2431
at dispatch (jquery.js:3)
at r.handle (jquery.js:3)”

Here’s a picture:
1st Error

We’re almost there Calin! If there is something wrong that I could fix on my end, that would help in troves. Also, I am a developer myself, so if there is something specific in the backend that needs a tweak it’s entirely possible for me to get my hands dirty.

Cheers,
-C

Yikes! Sorry Calin, I didn’t realize the blockquote would become that gigantic!

Hi BrookelinePublishingHouseInc-online, do not worry about the blockquote. Also I think that you already tried only with theme plugins to see if the problem persists.
If you want, we can take a look to these errors to see from where they come from and what we can do to fix them! Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel.
Thank you for your understanding!
