Articles – http://geospatialworl.wpengine.com/article/
Magazine – http://geospatialworl.wpengine.com/magazines/
Also using Plugins for events and Directories
Events – http://geospatialworl.wpengine.com/events/
Companies – http://geospatialworl.wpengine.com/companies/
However, the Visual Composer is only picking content from http://geospatialworl.wpengine.com/blogs/ which is the native post type in WordPress.
How do we pull the content into Visual Composer from the custom content types! This has become a major hurdle for us to use the NewsMag Theme.

We would want to apologize for the delay. Because of the huge amount of work that we have to handle sometimes may take up to 48 hour to answer at all tickets. Also there is the time zone that must be taken into consideration. However we do our best to answer in shortest time possible.
Concerning your requests I have to make the following specifications:
– the theme display in its blocks the default wp post type. However we added fields which allows you to display custom post types. That can be achieved by adding post type’s name in this field: http://screencast.com/t/S0dHovgwSS You have to add the exact name of your custom post type in order to be displayed. For example the name of event post type is tribe_events: http://screencast.com/t/eN2dSLBlg Also you have to set a featured image for your custom post type, otherwise the theme will display no-thumb image.
Another specifications refers to this page: http://geospatialworl.wpengine.com/blogs/ Here you’re using blog template which cannot be edited with Visual Composer and won’t display custom post types without modifying the code. You have to switch to a static page in order to have the page-builder from Visual Composer active.

Great I am able to call the custom post types!
No the next challenge is that the theme is not able to pick the custom categories like for mentioned below:
> Custom Post Type – News – The related custom category (taxonomy) news_posts
> Custom Post Type – article – The related custom category (taxonomy) paper
For this reason, I am also not able to have the filter working under News or Article blocks on the home page!

At the moment you can filter posts only by custom post types, not by custom taxonomies in Visual Composer.
We plan to extent theme’s flexibility in future and maybe a sorting by custom taxonomy will be available. However I can’t promise anything in this regard as this is a very complex task and some investigations must be made before. Also we have a long implementation list and we need to chose carefully what features we add.

Unfortunately we don’t have a place where users can vote for future requests but all suggestions are added on our todo list and when times comes developers will analyze them and make theirs decision. We have a very long list with features requests and must take them one by one so it could take a while until this may be taken into consideration. Also we have to carefully analyse every aspect of each new feature added to the theme because our users must always get what is best from us.
With regard at Advance Post Grid/List plugin we can’t provide an accurate answer as we didn’t test it and we’re not aware of its functionality. This plugin could work fine whit our theme but we can’t guarantee that.
