Website Crashed Upon Theme Update

I updated the Newsmag theme and my website crashed, I was momentarily kicked out of my WordPress admin/dashboard portal, and the following error message appeared when typing in my website’s url: “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”

After a little while, I was able to log back into my WordPress admin portal (thank goodness), however, the Newsmag theme is no longer downloaded to my account, somehow it removed itself from my downloaded themes.

I am now operating my website using another theme.

I would like to use Newsmag, however, don’t really know where to go from here. I don’t want my website to crash again. How did that happen? Did I do something wrong? If I were to re-download the Newsmag theme, and re-design the website from scratch, is it possible to avoid my website completely crashing upon updating the theme?

My website URL is: https://brooksysociety.com

Thank you in advance for the help!

Hi,
That is a standard WordPress message that is usually used when a theme or plugin is updated. Most likely, an update was being made to your site at that time.
Normally, the theme package should appear in your Themeforest account as long as you didn’t request a refund for that product and as long as the author has provided it. I can confirm that the theme is available on Themeforest.
Thank you!

Hi,
What I can recommend if you want to make a redesign is to create a staging (you can use a plugin if you want: WP Staging) and there, install the Newsmag theme, style it, and see how it works and if you can achieve what you need from it.
Thank you!
