Hey team! I am having an issue with the published date in google search. An article was posted a few hours ago and it got indexed in a few minutes. But Google shows “2 days ago”. This is happening with each article and I wonder why is it so.
Here is the search screenshot- https://prnt.sc/oa2m8r
Hi,
I found that there are similar topics online about this issue happening
– https://www.seroundtable.com/google-wrong-dates-25864.html
– https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/82213/why-is-the-date-displayed-in-the-google-search-result-is-3-days-older-than-the-a
– https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/101116/serp-google-rich-snippets-showing-the-wrong-date-for-updated-post
I checked the post you mention, the datepuiblished data is like this
– http://prntscr.com/oad8zm
So the date is correct, but Google seems to not take it into account for some reason. Google should pick that datepublished and use it. There is a know issue when videos are used in the post, but there is no video in yours

You could try and request a re-crawl from them, maybe this will correct the problem, but it may take some time from what I can find
– https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9466360/how-to-request-google-to-re-crawl-my-website
Thanks
The links you have given just discuss the problem and do not have any solution to it. The re-crawl is no longer supported. It takes me to the new search console and I have sent a request to re-index my homepage.
But surely I can’t keep doing this for every article that I post. There must be a permanent fix.
Quite unusual. If I check other posts the date is alright, for example this post published 5 days ago – https://www.thewrestlepost.com/featured/2066/wwe-live-tokyo-japan-2019-results-triple-h-returns-rollins-vs-nakamura-for-universal-title-more/
For other older posts Google displays the actual date not a time ago format, maybe there is a limit for the time ago format – http://prntscr.com/oagth8 after which teh actual date is displayed.
I can’t say why this is happening, and can’t seem to find some definite solutions to fix it. As long as the proper date is detected even in their own structured data tool it should be displayed in the search results page.
Maybe you could create a topic in the Google forum, the community there has more experience with such issues – https://support.google.com/websearch/community?hl=en
Now it shows dates from the future
https://prnt.sc/obc5xi
Looks fine now – http://prntscr.com/obysq1
I checked some more posts, they look alright now in the search results page, did you maybe find the problem? – http://prntscr.com/obyttt – http://prntscr.com/obyu9i
No, it’s still there. The problem is occurring in indexing. I asked in forums but got no reply. Here is another example of the error – https://prnt.sc/od9bkd
I see it, that date is incorrect, while the correct date is present in the source page of the post – http://prntscr.com/odhtct
I searched for more on the issue online, but still haven’t found what could possibly be the cause for this to happen.
Hi laurentlg,
Please make sure that you have the last version of the theme, Newspaper v10.3 also check the plugins, maybe some plugins interfere with theme or WordPress function, after that post a test post to see if this is indexed correctly.
Let me know the results!
Thank you!
