Hi,
Im having problems creating and changing widgets on the newspaper theme as the widget page is terribly slow. Not only that, but sometimes it erases the content of some widgets so I lose all work done on them. I recently changed the hosting of the webpage and the problem persisted, any idea of what can be causing this?

Hello Gabriel29,
Please make sure you do not have a bunch of widgets you do not use. If things get crowded up, it’s bound to get slower. Another thing you can try is to check if it’s from one of the plugins you might have. You can try to disable all of them (except visual composer) and see if the problem is still there.

Im afraid that deleting all unused widgets and disableing the rest momentarily did not work. I dont have the theme updated (im on 6.1) could it be that?

It is hard to say if that is the problem but we always recommend the latest version of our theme. Update your theme and only activate the visual composer plugin.If the problem is still there you can check if it is not a WordPress related problem. Switch to a WordPress standard theme and check the widgets menu again.

its been some time since my last reply but now that ive done some tests i can answer back. I have updated the theme, deactivate all plugins and uninstall most of them but the issue still persists. However when I change the theme to another one it works ok, so I guess it has to be an issue with the newspaper theme.
Last thing ive tried is activating the accessibility mode on the widget page and that seems to work, at least is not slow any more, I will have to wait a bit to see if also keeps the widgets in the different sidebars, as before it erased some of them.
Anyway, does any of this info help you think what the issue could be?

If your sidebars get erased, this issue usualy commes from the widget titles you set. If you use special characters such as !@#$%^ or even – or _ the widgets area will remove the widget. Only standard letters are supported. Try to change these titles and let us know how it goes.
