Hi,
please check:
‘Newspaper default’ and ‘Footer1’ containers show the widgets, custom sidebar containers does not show the widgets, like ‘Főoldal régi’.
This is only applicable for the admin area, the containers in the backend store the widgets and the widgets are shown in the webpage.

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 7.1.1), WordPress (4.5.2) and also, the latest version of required plugins (Visual Composer 4.11.2 and Social Counter 4.1). Please ensure that you have updated your theme only via FTP because this is the surest method in this case. Try to clear all your caches and check again. I have tested on my side and the custom Sidebars are working fine.
Also, please make sure that this type of issue does not come from your untested plugins. Try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.

I do have the same issue.
After creating a custom sidebar. I inserted in the custom sidebar the TD_block1, weather widget, and recent post widget.
Everything worked fine and after going back to Appearnce/widget, there was no content shown anymore in the widget containers, only the standard “newspaper” widget container is OK.
I followed Your advice, have installed the latest version of newspaper (7.2), updated the plugins and deactevated them.
Still the same issue.
Kindly let me know what todo . it even urgent because I am running the site now as production site and can´t go back.

Hi
If you’re using non-Latin characters in sidebar’s name there is a chance to not work properly and the widgets may not be saved. Try to use only Latin characters from A-Z and widgets should be saved fine.
