Widgets Get Removed When Changing the Child-theme

This question may be easy for you, but it is driving me crazy.

When I installed Newspaper, all my widgets got removed automatically. I had to add them again manually.

Now, I’ve just changed to a new Child-Theme, and again my widgets have gone!

The problem is that I’ve gone back (to the previous child-theme) and my widget are not there anymore.

How does the relationship between Widgets and Themes work? (I thought they were independent, as far as the new theme has the same widget areas)

Sorry, going back my widgets get alive again.

The point is: Why widgets get all removed when I change of child-theme? (the difference between the previous one and the new was only an image, but I changed the child-theme name for versioning)

Hello,

This could mean you have an outdated child theme servin old version of the files creating a conflict. Please update your child theme. Create a new child theme and do not change any names to it. Simply copy over the folder from the main archive: http://screencast.com/t/ktdo9Fbk6d
Then only use the current theme files if you want to add files to your child theme. Do not use other files from previous theme versions as chances are they have been modified in the new version.
let us know how it goes.
Always create a back-up of your data beforehand

Thank you!
