I noticed that this theme removes the oEmbed feature for WordPress links (where featured image, title, etc. are shown in the live post when you simply include a wordpress link in your post). When I change to a different theme, the embed works fine. Is there a setting I’m not finding to enable these?

Of note, the last URL on this post shows as 404, but is a perfectly valid URL.
It looks like the URLs are all something like this: https://chronicles.roadtrippers.com/take-chairlift-reach-one-worlds-fastest-free-fall-waterslide/embed/ That embed added at the end makes the URL 404
To confirm this was a theme issue, I switched to twentyseventeen and the embeds worked fine. However, when I switched back to Newspaper, the embeds worked fine there as well. No idea why this worked, but it did. So, I’m all good here, but curious why you think this would fix things.
This is unusual, I have tested multiple embeds and they all worked for me. I could not recreate the issue.
I see that all the embeds are showing at the moment on the post you mention, except maybe for this one where it is not available anymore
