Have you tested Newsmag with WP 4.3 ?
Just want to make sure that it’s compatible.
It seems not compatible.
I’m curious too before I upgrade. Can you report in this topic the issues you guys are having?

The current version now available on themeforest it’s tested with WordPress 4.3 and works fine. The theme was updated yesterday in this purpose and a fix was added for the deprecated widget constructor: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/new-update-news/

Q: will the new WP 4.3 update break older versions like NM 1.7 or Newspaper 4?
Was aware of the deprecated widget constructor issue which was outlined early July on the WordPress.org site, but since we have PHP5x, my understanding was that is generally not a huge issue ? Mostly issue for stuff written for PHP4.
Also just double checking since I have no need to go past NM 1.7 + Shim at the moment for most things. And still running NP4 couple places.

Initially we haven’t made any tests with older version of the themes and latest wp update however I have done some now and had no issues using just themes recommend plugins and Newsmag 1.7.1/Newsaper 4.6.3 on a clean database so it’s should work fine nevertheless you should still backup your current theme/db and wp install so you can revert if something goes wrong.

I updated to WP 4.3 on 2.1 – It worked without problems.
For those curious, YES, I was able to update my funky “NewsMag v 1.7.1 + shim” setup to 4.3 without any trouble.
I am the kind that does not like the same thing forever and can’t stand it. I need the change or I will go nuts and that not only goes for WordPress and themes, but Windows operating systems too. I can’t stand that people would actually stay with Windows XP still after all this time. Some just can’t handle change. I love the change. It is like walking outside for fresh air.
That does not mean I am going to jump ship with this theme. That means changing settings within the theme panel to change something or updating the theme and playing with new features or options.
Newspaper 4.5 works with WP 4.3 just fine, too. Yay!
