I wish to use WP-Rocket to speed up the website. They have advised that WP-Supercache will conflict with it and should be uninstalled. How essential is WP-Supercache for the Newpaper Theme. Will it have any repurcussions if I uninstall WP-Supercache.

Just use WP Rocket Plugin, that is what i use in my site, you cannot use the both plugin in one WordPress Installation, because it will cause issues on your site.

I did that after uninstalling WP-Super-Cache. It messed up the caching. It shows Desktop version on mobile and vice versa and sometime mixed.
Is there any specific setting you would recommend besides the default install.

Please make a test and deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a cache plugin, deactivate it, clear all cache and see the results.
