WP Super Cache

Hi Everyone

I recently moved over to the Newspaper Theme and need to initiate a Cache plugin.

Previously I have had WP Super Cache and WP Rocket.

Rocket was best for my old site BUT i see Newspaper recommends WP Super Cache so happy to go with that, subject to a good performance.

However I am getting a message that I need to visit WP Super Cache in the ADMIN page. I then get this message and cannot go any further. Can anyone assist? I am not great technically so please bear in mind with answer.

Error: Configuration file /var/www/web/wp-content/wp-cache-config.php is missing. Please reload the page.

The file /var/www/web/wp-content/advanced-cache.php was created by another plugin or by your system administrator. Please examine the file carefully by FTP or SSH and consult your hosting documentation.

If it was created by another caching plugin please uninstall that plugin first before activating WP Super Cache. If the file is not removed by that action you should delete the file manually.

If you need support for this problem contact your hosting provider.

Cannot continue… fix previous problems and retry.

Hope someone can help as current LCP times are shocking and performance is getting worse

thanks

Rupert

Hi JustOneForTheRoad, the Wp Rocket is one of the best plugins, but we recommend the Wp Super cache because this is a free plugin, and most of our clients want to improve the speed without additional costs.
To resolve that problem you’ll need to use FTP, cPanel or a file manager plugin to check the wp-cache-config.php if exists or not.
Also, here is a similar situation – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/config-file-errors-on-activate/ maybe the indications from there can help you.

In case that you want to use the WP Rocket plugin you can try the settings from those guide:

Thank you!
