I am finding I need to set my PHP memory to 128MB vs 64MB default with the new version of Visual Composer. Bigger site 256MB, heavy duty site, 1GB. Massive site 4GB.

Ask your hosting provider fir support on your histing account, to learn how to set memory limit for php… Usually set via hosting panel or php.ini file. Google how to increase memory limit for php.

Hi Chis,

I explained that I do not use a hosting but a server
PHP version 5.4
memory_limit set to 1024M
but also by changing the parameter to 4096M

remains the problem.

Dunno. Works on our web server where we “host” our sites. Might be some other mis-configuration with your system setup which you can review by looking at your error logs since you manage your own server. Error logs great place to start.

Perhaps try clean install of the plugin?

Do full delete of the folder in /plugins/js-composer/
then do clean install of the plugin.

Try with all other plugins OFF, caching off, mod_pagespeed off, cache cleared.
If you have 4GB RAM for php, and a modern CPU, should work just fine.

The 501/505 error seems to refer to an http header problem.

I’m assuming your site works with WordPress and the default twenty-fifteen theme?

remember you can’t update VC by over-writing original folder.
You need to wipe the old plugin from server, then upload new version via FTP.

I do it manually from uncompressed files to ensure it all uploads properly from FTP software log.

Hi Crist,

did I mention that I
1. deleted the old plugin via FTP
2. deactivated all plugins present
3. then installed the new version of the plugin via charge Plugi missing,

but as soon as I post wordpress slows and stops.

Since 4 years working with wordpress but it is the first fly that happens to me this kind of problem.

The problem is not the error page. but that freezes everything wordpress, until gate via FTP plugin.

on the same server but with another site the plugin and the thema works fine and I do not hatto this problem

So I do not know the reason for this problem.

Then error can not remember if it’s 505 … but it is a mistake that block all wordpress

Apparently the current version of Visual Composer is a memory pig …. might not be compatible with your server due to some bug in that. Dunno.

Hi,

We’re looking into this, on our side it uses a small amount of memory, just a few MB from the older version, on some clients it uses around 80 MB more than the previous version. We’re trying to replicate this issue on our side and identify the cause.

Thank you, Emil G.

Hi Emil,

I expect some of your confirmation about this problem as soon as possible.

Sorry to be captain obvious here, but if he is able to use everything properly on another domain on the same machine – as he says – then VC isn’t the problem. Nor is the memory limit.

@Orlando
I’d suggest making sure you have the latest version of WordPress, and then I’d FTP a fresh copy of WordPress over your existing copy to remove any issues within the files. Whatever the problem is, it’s not Newsmag or Visual Composer causing the issue. Shouldn’t be server config either.
