wrong favicon appearing in search

hi

i have defined a favicon in wordpress and it shows up correctly when i go to the site directly: https://ibb.co/Wprk4T8

however, in google search results it shows the wrong favicon: https://ibb.co/Y3x6rbG

can you advise me what to do? is it theme related?

Hi,

Did you change it recently? It might take a while before Google sees the change from what I can see https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9290858?hl=en

no, not changed. this has been set since end june, google still showing the wrong one.

Hi,

I don’t quite know what the definite solution would be, if you have set a favicon in WordPress Google should use that one. You could try what they suggest in the guide https://prnt.sc/ue76e8
You could also place the favicon image in the root folder on the server (public_html), that seems to have solved it for some users https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/6504/google-chrome-displays-the-wrong-favicon-that-ive-linked-to-in-my-html
