Wrong Featured Video Image Random

It has been doing this to me since I think version 2.1 of the theme. I will add a video post and put a youtube video link and it will show a random image of images from the media library that has nothing to do with the post and it only does this with youtube.

I can use dailymotion and vimeo fine but youtube just does not grab the right image from the video and it is random, not all the time. So I can’t give you a screenshot unless it happens again. I just went to youtube and was adding Navy Seals VS Zombies trailer and the first trailer I got the link and added it showed an image of I Spit On Your Grave: Vengeance Is Mine image.

Went back to youtube and searched for another trailer and that one actually showed the image from the video. So I have no clue what is wrong with youtube video and pulling the images from them.

YouTube may serve the wrong image, or even a related image at times — sometimes they just serve the wrong image from a video. Super annoying. Kind of like in Google News sometimes I hit the tweet button and it shows me different story … what? Google not perfect ? 🙂

Hi doucare1971,

We haven’t had any similar reports in this regard. Please let us know if ti happens again and address us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and give wp access so we can take closer look at this and investigate.

Thanks for the message!

I realize this thread is quite old, but I’ve encountered a similar issue in just the last couple of days in the Newspaper theme.

I use a lot of YouTube videos with content on my site. In the last 48 hours, whenever I add a YouTube video to the Featured Video module (in the right-hand column). Upon saving the article, instead of scraping the video URL I’ve added, I see the thumbnail of a video I incorrectly pasted by mistake 2 days ago. The URL is just from a video I was listening to while working on the site.

For reference, here’s the video I pasted by accident:

Now, every time I paste a new video in the Featured Video field, this incorrect thumbnail appears. As a temporary workaround, I’m using a third-party tool to retrieve the correct thumbnail manually. I have to go to Featured Image, remove the bad/cached video image, and then manually add the thumbnail I’ve extracted with the third-party tool.

For reference, here’s the tool I’ve been using:

Any assistance or suggestions to clear up this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Hello @Joe,

This is strange. I did a few tests, and this issue has not happened to me.
Have you checked for a plugin conflict? Please deactivate ALL plugins, including WP Bakery, except tagDiv ones. Also, if you use a child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache, and try again.

Thank you!

I have resolved the issue.

Initially, I created a test post and embedded a YouTube video, which resulted in the previously mentioned image appearing unexpectedly. After saving this, I created a second test post, embedded the same video, and this time, another unrelated graphic from a previously abandoned article appeared. I had not realized there were two different images associated with this issue.

Following that, I created a third test article, embedded the YouTube video once again, and upon saving, the correct YouTube thumbnail was successfully retrieved.

I posted several new articles yesterday with no sign of the problem. It appears whatever was queued up in the Feature Image area has cleared. The issue appears to be resolved.

Hello,
