Hello,
I use Newspaper theme and i have problem with Google News. It takes random image and not the highlighted image.
I use Yoast SEO for OG image meta tag and this sitemap http://casertaweb.com/notizie/post-sitemap.xml, so the problem is in the theme, how can i solve it?

i have read the topic before of write my question, i have the always problem also with og tag and right sitemap, for me is urgent solve the problem because with a different theme, post highlighted image in google news is right. Thank you
Nothing to do with theme.
a) Google News uses open graph tags -and- your Google News Sitemap (diff. from main sitemap)
b) Google News will use images within the post meta, not images outside the body text, such as ‘featured’ images used as backgrounds or outside the bounds of the story as they cannot differentiate those from ads
c) Google News will not use images which are too small, copied from other sites with same name, too much text, or time out on load (too large in bytes, like over 100kb)
Theme cannot control any of that.
You would need to look at the Google News support forums and/or put in a support ticket with Google News folk.
Check again the image listed in your Google news sitemap – not main sitemap — make sure it actually loads from the link. Check your Google search console for errors, try resubmitting and TESTING your GN sitemap for errors. If no errors, then it’s all correct.
Aside from my suggestions on the thread linked to and the simple A-B-C *facts* noted above, nothing the them devs can do to help. Not a theme issue, other than how content used. Period. Full stop.
