Yoast Sitemap Question

Hey,
Just wanted to clear one confusion.
When we enable yoast XML site option- It creates one parent XML sitemap like this:
https://mydomain.com/sitemap_index.xml

and then many other children XMLs link based on the settings like this:

https://mydomain.com/category-sitemap.xml
https://mydomain.com/page-sitemap.xml
https://mydomain.com/post-sitemap.xml
https://mydomain.com/post_format-sitemap.xml

1. Should I only submit the parent XML to Google, Bing etc. or Children XMLs too?

2. I know that Parent XML by default contain these children XML files but when I submitted all these to Google Search Console, I noticed that Children XMLs gets “Submitted” instantly ( not indexed) while Parent XML is still showing “PENDING” for last 2 hours and it usually take time up to 8-10 hours just to get submitted. Why so?

3. What if I submit all these links ( Parent and children XML both), will it cause any conflict? On MOZ, I read it that it’s always good to have a multiple XMLs on Search Engine.

4. What if I create XML from two different plugins ( say Google XML generator plugin and Yoast XML) Is it good and recommendable?

Thank you.

PS: Not related to Newspaper theme but I think our community is wide enough to clear such silly confusions 🙂

Hi,
For 1,2 & 3: submit only the sitemap_index.xml (and not the childs).
For 4: never use 2 sitemaps!
