YouTube video featured images are always hotlinked from i.ytimg.com on the front

I use Newsmag, and the featured images for YouTube videos are always hotlinked from i.ytimg.com on the frontend. I’ve tried manually changing the featured image, but the theme keeps overriding the URL. Could you please provide a safe PHP code snippet to disable hotlinking for featured images and force the theme to use locally hosted images from the WordPress Media Library?

Hi,
Normally, after you set the YouTube link, save the article, and refresh the page, you can replace the thumb generated by YouTube – https://i.imgur.com/KNnBYJU.png update the post, and this will display/use the New Image as a thumb for blocks.
Thank you!

I’ve followed all the steps you instructed: changing the featured image, saving the article, and refreshing the page. However, the results are still the same. I haven’t been able to change the thumbnail for img.youtube.com https://prnt.sc/wNm231XMGakY and the desktop version i.yting.com https://prnt.sc/I3SbllH2_c_S. Are there any further configuration steps in the newsmag theme panel that I can try?

img.youtube.com and i.yting.com are featured images on post pages. Other thumbnails are loaded locally.

Hi uwo,
I think there is a misunderstanding! As I mentioned above, if you change the feature image, this will be displayed on blocks, not inside the article; inside the article will remain the original one https://i.imgur.com/SMb1xyx.png
Thank you!
