Likewise!
Also interested.
I am interested in this as well… Looking forward to the answer!
Marius… Can’t understand the English… We have this problem also… looks terrible for our authors!! They are not happy… It’s not clear at all what the solution is. We need to fix this right away. Thanks. Please clarify!

I just want to keep a particular post in the #1 position on the homepage for a while… see image at http://screencast.com/t/Qgby1hQ9nf
Thanks. I don’t want to cause any issues with the theme. Thanks.
Jeff
Thanks. The lack of true italics is certainly a problem, even more so with fonts like Droid Serif, which we are using for our article text. It’s simply not right and looks bad. I would think this is a top level issue and one which I hope is resolved sooner rather than later.
Thanks much.
Jeff
Update: I was originally using “Default Template” with Visual Composer.
When I switched to Pagebuilder with Page Title, the fonts show up properly. Hope that helps. This minor issue seems ok now although I suspect that’s it’s still not working right with Default Template.
Jeff
Best update method is?
Thanks. I am hopeful this is updated soon.
I’ve tried making the change in your screencapture you provided above: http://screencast.com/t/erMAsiPYbjj
This is what I changed to:
$temp_css_google_files .= str_replace(' ', '+', td_fonts::$font_names_google_list[$font_id_from_list]) . ':400,400italic,700,700italic';
What I need is to see the real italic with Droid Serif but here is what I’m getting: http://screencast.com/t/sNPsTpy0eEG
Sure don’t like the way this looks… appreciating your help!
Jeff
Doesn’t look like it… but it’s calling a number of others…

Christopher, thanks again for your lengthy solution, but I really wanted to keep this post simple… that’s why I separated it from the other one so as to keep the focus and get some help from the staff on this particular topic.
Lucian, what we need is a solution that would apply any time we call an italic using Open Sans (or any other Google font if need be that has a true italic)… in a post, page or whatever. And, I don’t think it should be wiped out every time I update. Simple as that. If possible.
Lucian, normally I would not make this public yet because I’m still building it, but since there is no private here and you asked… http://positivityworld.com
Thanks… Jeff
Still waiting for that “real support”… Just want to be able to add “real” italics and possibly other weights…
Anyone?
Well… thanks… but I really want something simpler than that and don’t want to have to go through gyrations every time we update… but I appreciate your sharing. For the moment, I just want to get true italics and maybe some weights… it ought not to be that difficult… hoping anyway.
Alright, I’ll wait for them and thanks for chiming in. I did get the email with your original edit stating you don’t use the child theme but edit the theme files directly. When updates come through you do what?
Jeff
That doesn’t seem optimum to me. Doable but not optimum. Nonetheless, thanks! I did read that post and presume I’d need to use the child theme. I’m still in the early stages of building this so I’ll worry more about it at a later refinement stage.
Interested in this also. Open Sans italic is not happening. Thanks!
Jeff
