I remember you answered this before :
For users with the Yoast SEO plugin who have the gallery problem, please go to Yoast Settings > Site basics and make sure that the option for “Force rewrite titles” is disabled”.
It works… Thanks.

As I mentioned, I have exactly the same problem as Peter since WordPress 6.9. I temporarily resolved it by reinstalling WordPress 6.8.

Since it seems the problem come from WordPress 6.9, I downloaded WordPress 6.8 https://fr.wordpress.org/download/releases/ and copy paste the files except WP Content on my FTP

WordPress 6.9 introduced significant changes to the Block Editor, data APIs, and the handling of layouts (columns, grids). These areas are essential for a complex magazine theme like Newspaper. A theme that has not yet been updated for these changes is highly prone to breaking the display.

1. 🛑 The Likely Cause: CSS and Block Structure
The display issue where photos show up “one under the other in large size” is the default appearance when the CSS that is supposed to create the gallery columns (using display: flex, grid, or float) is no longer being applied.

This could be due to:

HTML Structure Change: WordPress 6.9 may have changed the HTML tags (the <div>s) surrounding the gallery images. The Newspaper theme’s CSS is no longer finding the correct selectors and therefore fails to apply the column layout.

CSS Conflict: New native WordPress 6.9 CSS is unexpectedly overriding the theme’s CSS.

2. ⏳ The Recommended Solution: Wait for the Newspaper Update
Since the theme is the most probable source of the issue, the most stable and long-term solution is to wait for tagDiv (the Newspaper theme developers) to release an official compatibility update for WordPress 6.9.

Action: Check the Newspaper forum or changelog page (on ThemeForest, if you bought it there) to see if they have published an announcement regarding 6.9 support or a release date for the next version.

Hi Calin,
I have the same problem than Peter: Since I installed WordPress 6.9, the photos no longer display as a gallery. They are displayed as large images, one below the other. How can I fix this problem?
