Per code in above Q: the anchor and href code actually got executed in my question. I tried to comment it out. Sorry.

Basically, I’m trying to switch the link to author URL in author box to a link to author Email.

Should edits like this — to .php docs — be done within the context of a Child Theme? Obviously, I’m thinking in terms of theme updates. If so, should it be nested in Child Theme directories per Newspaper Theme structure?
