PS: Disregard last post. I just upgraded to PHP 7.1 (my hosting provider suggested to try that) and now saving works like a charme. Maybe this is an advice that can also help others.

Ok, managed to get the php.ini problem sorted out with my hosting provider. This is my system panel right now:

Everything looking good I guess? Still, no success in saving the translation settings. I should also say, this is the only setting that I cannot save. Everything else has always been working just fine.

As for plugins: I only use three not tested plugins that I all deactivated, but that didn’t help:
Cookie Law Info
Limit Login Attempts
Reveal IDs

I’m also using WP Super Cache and WP User Avatar which are supported. (Also deactivated WP Super Cache, didn’t help.)

Thanks for your help, but no luck so far. I’m still wondering if there is no “dirty” way to do this. Hardcode it directly on the server. Or apply the translation on a local XAMPP-installation and copy the files to the real server. Problem is, I have no idea which files to look for…

As for the status parameters: Everything green, except max_input_vars and SUHOSIN which I have no access to.

One followup-question, if I may and you’re still reading this.

I’m having troubles saving the new translation. On pressing save I get the loop-symbol but it never finishes. Might have to do something with the fact that I could not change the values on max_input_vars, suhosin.post.max_vars and suhosin.request.max_vars as suggested since I have no access to the php.ini trough my hoster. Any way around that? I tried editing de_DE.po in the translations-folder but this longshot didn’t work 😉

thanks for the workaround. However, I’m still wondering if the top bar menu shouldn’t show up in the hamburger menu? After all, it does show the social icons from the top bar menu, why not the other menu items? Maybe that’s something you can look into for future updates? Anyway, many thanks for the quick help!
