Hi, I have a quick update. I was able to find my old custom CSS and other tweaks in an old cached version of my site. So now I am trying to just switch to Newspaper 12 and update my changes/settings.

However, the same issue occurs when trying to activate it. I add the purchase code and get a message that it was activated. But afterwards the theme still says ‘Your Theme is not Registered”, and also flashes UNREGISTERED at the top.

Is there something other than “Activating” it I need to do, or why won’t it save the status as registered after the activation says it was successful?

Thank you for the ideas. My main issue is that even if I restore an old backup, since the theme won’t see it is registered, I can’t see my settings at all to export. Can you ask your team where those would be stored in the database, or if I can temporarily “trick/force” version 8.1.1 to show as validated so I can see those settings we had before updating? I add a purchase code and it says the theme is activated, but it doesn’t actually activate it or “stick”…

Hi. I have a follow up to this. I can see we can identify posts manually this way and hide the ads.

However, the ad code is still being run and served, it is just hidden by the CSS attribute. This seems like a very concerning situation with Google or other ad platforms. If they find they are serving ads and charging for impressions, but the ads are not displayed, we would definitely lose our account.

I am not sure CSS will work. We need a page or post template where the ad units are not inserted to begin with. Just like a “Simple page” that has the header and footer, but no ads inserted at all.

Or are there any other suggestions on how to do this correctly?
