Regarding server response time 😀 I guess in times of real time advertising googles scope is in the 20ms area. Probably expecting everybody to serve on high power servers with performance optimized nodejs ^^

It’s pretty hard to follow this thread from the beginning since a lot of it is for earlier versions. @Simmons could you or anyone share the best practises/combination of settings for
– theme / plugins
– .htacces
– mod_pagespeed
– nginx
for the latest version of the theme?

EWWW is already in use 😉 like it! Does anyone know a hack that ewww is leaving some files out? I do have a transparent watermark which it is killing every time running over the images 😀 pretty annoying.

Does anyone know an alternative to cloudflare? Their infrastructure isn’t the best in germany. I’m pretty sure my local hosting is faster. Anyone knows a good solution to do the following things on the own server instead of using cloudflare?

I do know the import export function, and it works.

However I m copying production to staging once a day thus I’d like to automate the copying from production to staging through a script. My scripts deletes all tables in staging, copies them from the production database and then replaces the production domain through the staging domain. I make a full copy of the database however the td settings are not transferred. Why? How can I automate it?

to 4th. I think id be really helpful to support continious loading for similar articles since it is very important to keep people on the page by giving them fitting recommendations.

I just worked 2 nights tweaking the theme for social performance. Gonna run tests tomorrow. I added a second social sharing bar, which is fixed to the bottom on mobile devices. I moved the comments ahead of the similar articles and integrated facebook comments instead of wp comments. Reduced font a little bit. Is it a lot of work to integrate the continious loading into the similar articles?
May be also a good feature for the theme to have a 4/5 option in the similar articles interface “random” and a second trigger continuous loading.

I just found this awesome wordpress plugin image source control isc http://wordpress.org/plugins/image-source-control-isc/. It has a couple of advantages of using the caption. You can force the authors to fill a source field, add a source to every image as source and not as caption (thinking in shema) and it also is able to add an image source list to the end of every article.

However it seems to have a bug/problem either with the latest wordpress version or the newpaper theme. I opend a bug report in the wordpress plugin page.
