I tried to read through all the topics and replies on this subject. I have been using Newspaper theme for years and is my go-to on my 14-year-old well-established site.

I just spent over 2 hours deactivating, re-activating all my plugins and testing tagDiv Composer after each step to see which one was slowing my site down and causing havoc with tagDiv composer, guess what? woocommerce did it again!

I have finely dumped Woocommerce and installed Ecwid to create my store. No muss, no fuss.

I really wish those creators could get together and figure out the issues with each of their plugins. Stop posting theories or work around here and then post that the ISSUE SOLVED

Well, good luck everyone! I’ve got my tagDiv Composer and a shopping cart system that works together fine.

well that kinda worked! But I guess I have to live without search because 8.5.1 has errors in it.

I am going to roll back 8.5.1 to 8.1.

I am running 8.1 on another site without any problems, but site with 8.5.1 has issues. Weird?!?

I did a complete re-install via FTP and still the same. not sure why, I don’t have this problem on my other site with the same theme.

Or.. how to get rid of that search icon all together?

If I move the search to the top bar, it is fine on the main menu. If I move it back, same problem. So not really sure how clearing cache fixes that.

Yeah.. that did not work. I even cleared cache from my hosting company. I am going to roll back to the last version or remove the theme.

Such a great theme too, what a shame.

I have the same problem since the update. Not really sure what Edward is suggesting?

Even when the site loads after a few refreshes, there is a hiccup in the load. I don’t understand why. I have never seen a theme act like this.

Was this theme created for only supper dupper fast host servers or what. I can not wrap my mind around this, so damn frustrating.

I have tried dozens of cache, images compression plugins with very little luck. I don’t get it, most of the time main page on initial view does not load images. I have to refresh the page twice and then it still may or may not load properly.

All these plugins is like trying to solve a puzzle, some don’t work with each other and some don’t work with theme.

I truly love the newspaper 8 theme and the way it looks, but it runs like mac truck. SLOW and get terrible mileage.

I am loosing readership and visitors faster then the pages load, when can I do? I am testing on another server that is beefier, but not that much better results.

http://www.evanino.com is a site that has been running for 11 years and has a lot of visits, or use to.

I will go over the documentation once again, and play wack a mole trying to figure out what plays well with the theme.

I will look into replacing Speed Booster after compressing images. I am currently using Force Regenerate Thumbnail, it will probably run all day since I have over 5000 images.

Thanks Chris! I can’t believe you get 90+ without some kind cache plugin, and with Newspaper theme?

I am trying to work through this theme, It seems to be a resource hog itself. I even installed the so-called Speed booster from tagDiv, all I get is that messages that all my other plugins are bad.

I am going to try and replicate my site on another server and see if that helps.

Google PageSpeed is

Desktop “POOR” 45/100
Mobile “NEEDS WORK” 66/100
