Is there any way I can by-pass all of that and just stick this linked image next to my logo? I have specific settings for that header ad below the menu already, and it would be a pain to have to re-do the custom settings for it on specific pages.

When I do the above suggested things, I get something that looks like this (and I used the 728 x 90 code, and it automatically turned it into a 250×250 code, which is weird…and it also got rid of the white area (now grey) which connects menu with content below):

Works like a charm, thanks a bunch!!

Ahh okay, that makes sense. Instead of using a colour code, if you type in “violet” then it seems to work. Thanks for the help!

OH, sorry about that, now I see the code you are suggesting. Thanks!

It isn’t a page, it’s a post – I do not use VC in posts. Is there a different way to go about this? The code given in shortcodes does not work, it just makes letters highlighted and it’s not a button.

[button color=”” size=”” type=”3d” target=”” link=””][/button]

Thanks Alin – your shortcode works. The one Emil posted didn’t work (not sure why). Thanks again everyone for all the help. And Chris – your code magically works now for some reason.

Thanks Emil! The number 5 function didn’t work, but I changed it to “article bottom ad” and replaced the taboola script into the loop-single file below the article sharing function and that worked. Now I just need to figure out how to get the article bottom ad above the author box – you don’t happen to have another function that works for that, would you?

And Chris – thanks for the suggestion. I wasn’t minifying the functions.php file, I minified the stylesheet, and didn’t know if I was supposed to do that before or after modifying the functions file – but as you say, they aren’t related, so that rules out that!

Thanks!

Or wait, does CSS minifcation need to be done *after* we add your code? Because I did minification first, and then modified the functions.php file.

Hey Chris!

I wish that helped 🙁

Whether I remove that part of the coding or not, still doesn’t work on either 6.0 or 6.1

This is what my theme looks like before (a snippet preview): http://www.screencast.com/t/9vZGZQ6XaHer

This is what it looks like after (another snipper preview – but the whole theme goes completely berzerk): http://www.screencast.com/t/NxRY3lXBZ15t

Hi Alin,

That code works great! 🙂 Is there anyway to get the actual icons to be white, though, instead of light grey? (so that it fits with my theme colours?)

Thanks!

Awesome, thanks Alin!

Actually, would there be any way to make a box border around the “follow us online”, and have it filled with a colour?

Works great! Thanks!! 🙂

I re-minified and it seems to work on my iphone now! Thank you!

Hey Chris,

Thank you for that – I will add that to the top of the wp-config.php file, so that it syncs up with the changes over in my hosting php files. It is annoying that we need to manually do this, but such is the crazy world of the interwebs. :s

Whoops, nevermind, didn’t realize my “toolbar toggle” wasn’t checked.

Hey Lucian,

I’ve check with a few friends and they all say that my site looks alright now. This is what we all see:

http://www.screencast.com/t/11inp7dbS

Can you clear your cookies and cache of your browser and check to see if that is what you see?

I replaced my style.css code with the original, not minified – when I minify my style.CSS code, the mobile site completely messes up – do you know why? It appears as the above. It is recommended to minify in Chris’ pagespeed post (he outlines how to do it) – but it makes the mobile theme un-useable.

Hello again!

Just wanted to let you know that I solved my problem – the links in my menu were pages, which then had categories in them. When I made the menu from the actual categories and then had sub-categories within those categories, it seemed to fix the problem. I have no idea why I created pages in the first place. Thanks for your help!

Thanks so much Lucian! I appreciate the help. I got my site fixed, but would you still recommend that I change my server so that it is setup for php to have at least 256MB RAM allocated to it?

I think I figured it out! I had to do a clean install, and now it seems to be working. Thanks!

Hey Lucian,

Thanks for the response. This problem occurred even before I minified my site. What do you mean they appear unstyled?

My website is completely messy right now due to something – I am deleting everything and starting from scratch. If you can get back to me on this category thing, I’m sure it’s a simple fix.

Hey Chris,

I didn’t add in the new JS_composer…that is likely the issue. I will try that, and then if that doesn’t work, I will try what you suggest.

I have WPengine – a couple questions:
1) There are 4 areas in Filezilla that contain the js and js composer. First wp-admin contains a folder labelled “js”, then wp-includes contains a folder labelled “js”, then under wp-content > plugins contains a folder called “js_composer” and then under wp-content > Themes > Newspaper contains a folder called “js” —> do I need to delete all four? Or do I just delete the folder called “js_composer” from the plugins, and then add in the new folder there?
2) How do I start up without any plugins, if once I delete and re-add the visual composer, none of my pages work? Should I disable all plugins, and THEN delete the visual composer?
3) Turn off all caching? I have WPengine as my hosting company, and I think they deal with the caching, no? I do not have any caching plugins – how do you shut off your caching?
4) Again, I think I would have to talk to WPengine about the RAM, yes?

Sorry for all of these questions, I really appreciate your help. My site is pretty active, and so I get pretty stressed when the site doesn’t work because it affects traffic flow majorly.

Thank you.

Hey Chris,

I tried deleting via FTP, and still just brings me to blank pages (it doesn’t time out, even after clicking delete, the first couple seconds of me going to my website, its just all blank pages, won’t load).

Not sure what to do, as I need to modify the home page, and I am not able to because visual composer doesn’t work… :\
