Guys you were really helpful. Now I have activated again the upscale thumbnails plugin, and forced the regeneration. Also I’m only setting the posts with better image quality/size as featured, and those appear on the Big Grid 3 that is showing perfectly right now 😀

I will keep checking to see if the thumbnails are being correctly created when the uploads are made via wp rest api, but I believe everything is working as intended.

Thanks Alin, I have tried before with thumbnail upscale and force regenerate thumbnails but it didn’t work, maybe I was doing something in the wrong way..

Just to be sure, I installed GD Library, because I’m not sure that it was installed when I tried before, and I’m running a complete thumbnail regeneration..

I will report back in a while because there are 12k images to regenerate 😛

Thumbnails are created when creating a new post? I will investigate what difference does it make doing it using wordpress admin, and doing it by code/api..

I will try with the upscale plugin, but in the past it didn’t work, probably because it didn’t upscaled the images after uploading them using the api..

Bogdan, let me ask you a question, as I’m starting to undestand why the images look wrong. I have modified my import module, to only take images bigger than container, and setting them to appear in big grid 3.

I’m uploading the image and setting that as featured_image on posts, through WP-REST API, so I believe every thumbnails are being generated.. But I don’t know what should I check specifically to make sure the thumbnails are being generated and used.

If that doesn’t work, I believe I will be using custom css code to just center and crop the images as I need them..

I will be doing all the needed changes in the backend to ensure the articles are created with the minimum image sizes in mind.
