Just to let others know,

Installing Yoast and setting up a custom canonical tag for the posts fixes this issue. I really did not want to install any 3rd party plugin for that but as it fixes the canonical issue on itemlist generated URLs I guess it will do the trick until I find a capable developper.

Hi Catalin,

That’s what I’m noticing 🙂 I’m still trying to find the answer by myself because I like challenge and this is a one post website I’m talking about at the moment, but I planning to buy 2 more licences for other websites, and I might have to find someone to make some custom tweaks, if you have a name I’ll gladly take a note of it in case I should need it.

Hi I think I’m on the right way but I’m not sure, while trying to modify the canonicals that are generated on the smart lists it seems that the code is generated in the

wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_wp_booster_functions.php around line 519

But I’m stuck here….

Hi again Simon,

I do see how the smart lists work, and I need to say that in some cases once you tasted them you do not want to stop using them. In my case, I’m using it on my only post 🙂 what a great writer 😀

I’m an SEO and such a situation is kind of problematic when it comes to indexing a post properly. I’m not sure the use of the wordpress shortlink wtually has any impact here.

I’m no coder, do you know if it would be possible to modify the samrt list php file in order to make the subpages canonical tags (/2/, /3/, …) point to the main post URL instead?

That would definitively be a great addition to anyone making use of the smart lists.

Above 3K words, not using the smart lists would greatly reduce the user experience.

Hi Simion,

Thanks for the reply I noticed that option already, but it is not what I’m looking for. I do not like the facebook button look 🙂

Another issue is that it only counts shares and likes on facebook but not tweets etc…

The easiest solution to my problem would be using mashshare instead of the built in system, but I’m trying to install as little plugins as possible.

Anyway thanks for taking the time to take a look at this thread.
