Thank you for your support, I’m really sorry this was caused by a Pugin that broke the function. I deleted that Pugin and everything works normally.
That plugin is called: WordPress Hide Posts

I am using the latest version Version: 12.6.5, the random post mode still works fine, but the popular mode cannot be used. My website has been operating for several years and the popular mode still works, but how do I use it? A few months ago I noticed it was broken. I installed it as you instructed but it still doesn’t work.
