Where do add the code in comment.php (mobile) /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/mobile? Anybody?

Okay, finally sorted it out :D. I just had options for older comments disabled. The comments that are more than 28 days old. Feel stupid now. messing around for 4 hours now.

Thank you.

Haha, Sorry. Was updating my website to 8.1 to see if comments start to work. It is live now.

And also now after updating if I allow comments for pages, they are working fine. Yet comments for posts are not working. Only those show that I myself do use the WordPress in the comment section of that post. And these also when viewed on the page has “comments are closed” written under them.

Yes, you can also edit the AMP template and get the required formatting you need. However, with not much experience in web development, using a plugin for me is way easier.

hmm, I guess the plug in I mentioned above can be used as an additional plugin. it adds extra features for styling and stuff. AMP is just bare minimum, don’t have much control. So I think I’ll give this plugin a try. It works with AMP installed.

Thanks Chris for that. How about AMP for WP – Accelerated Mobile Pages . It is going pretty strong these days. Have good reviews, rating and customer support

Thank you Simion C, that was helpful.

Can you please elaborate on these points in the child theme support?

12. The wordpress templates which are not loaded by theme API, like archives.php, header.php, etc, have child theme standard support.

The theme API in the child theme:

Important!

We strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND using the theme API from the child theme.

If I have to make changes in the child theme then I have to use the theme API in style.css?

Thanks, Catalin.

Okay from that I can see:
– I cannot copy header.php to the child theme and overwrite it.
– I cannot copy loop_single_1.php (etc) files to the child theme and overwrite it.
– I can overwrite single_template_1.php (etc) files from my child theme.

If this is correct, then every time I update the theme I’ll have to make the changes in the respective files for FB comments to work. Let me know if I have got it right.

Can anybody let me know if all this can be done in the child theme? So that after the theme update fb comments are not lost ?

thanks, that topic was very helpful in understanding child theme even more clearly.

Can I lose my modifications? (when I update?) I have not made any changes to the theme files itself. The theme files are as they were before, I have only made the social media icons a little bigger using the CSS panel available in the theme panel? rest of the changes are just the arrangement of blocks, grids, logos etc. nothing to fancy.

I may lose these things worries me?

So I played around with it a bit and was able to find out a way. Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot, I will not lose my theme customisation and/or custom css code when I update my theme in the future?

junaiddar

the url of page in menu structure is # and the page id is 47

junaiddar

Tested it a bit further, if I change anything of the latest articles on the right, even the name, it messes up my contact page.

junaiddar

okay no worries, thanks for letting me know.
