Hello
I have been thinking the same about using categories. Then somewhere I read that posts didn’t stay ‘active’ forever and that is what we need, so I dropped the idea.
Posts are files and will not disappear as such but what about the date they are given when created? Is there anything in the database/programming that will render posts before a date – e.g three years – too old and sort of discard these posts/files? Based on your answer I gather that this is not correct.
You mention an archive template. That would be a tremendious work saver. I haven’t seen templates of that kind in the theme I use – Newspaper Black Pro. Can I create a template of my own? Could you provide me with a link to somewhere “How to create a template”?
Thanks in advance

Hello
I asked in order to be sure. I did suspect that this would be the answer, so on with work.

Hello Vlad
We publish a scientific magazine of the humanities every sixth month.
The magazine contains 10 different articles. I add them all on the Home Page as 10 different posts. Our readers will click on the post title or image and read more about the content of the article. Lets call this volume 1.
6 month later we want to publish volume 2 containing 12 different articles.
Again I add all 12 articles to the Home Page. Up till now every thing is fine but …
Adding 12 new articles also means that all the articles from volume 1 will disappear.
My question is – Can I save the Home Page created for volume 1 and still keep all the posts and will they still function in the same way as they did on the Home Page? The page for volume 1, now with a different name, will then be added to the menu item Archives?
Or will I have to create a separately page for all our ‘older’ numbers ( 1, 2, 3 ,4 …) and add these to the menu item Archives?
I hope this help you to understand my question. For the time being I can not provide you with an example. I am in the process of creating the first volume in the Newspaper theme but we have 20 volumes that we want to be added to the menu item Archives.
