Appears this issue relates to Chrome version 77.x and not Newsmag itself:

Interestingly, I’m able to edit as normal in Safari, but not in Chrome. I disabled all add-ons for the browser and tried incognito, but the problem persists.

Installed health check, and tested on a new theme, but it was still there in Chrome. So perhaps this is a Chrome issue.

Solved it.

The one thing I didn’t think of…Clearing the cache in my Chrome web-browser.
