Ok, so, after some research and some help with chatGPT – there is in fact a way to do this by editing the category_top_post_style php file that you have set for your category pages. It will take some tinkering though.

So, your expert response of “This is possible only if you use cloud templates using a flex block.” is flat out wrong. In fact it was this response that annoyed me enough to actually find out how to do what I wanted on my own (thank god for AI.)

After consideration neither option is really worth the time and effort just to get some posts stickied to the top_post block when I can just remove that block and sticky the posts normally to achieve a more or less similar effect. You’ll need a plugin called “Category Sticky Post” to allow you to sticky different posts to different category pages, though, just in case anyone else finds this issue.

I just need a bit of code to check what category the page is and to display the posts that I specify for that category.

What a fuss. There must be some other way by simply editing the theme files or something.
I am using a pro template so should be able to do it as suggested but this involves creating new individual templates for each of my categories…

Just to clarify, I understand that I can filter the posts on this block when editing my main site page in TagDiv composer, but I want to filter them for each category page specifically and I see no option to do this or anywhere that I can edit individual category pages using tagdiv.

The only editable “Page”, per se, is my homepage.

There is no setting in my Newspaper theme to customise which posts show here either, and no setting in Posts > Categories

Ok, so after some testing it looks like the Gutenberg plugin was causing the issue.
This is a bit annoying… but once I disable it the pop-up windows appear in Composer without any issues.

Seems like a minor bug. Would be great to get a fix for this!

Either way, problem resolved. I just have to go without Gutenberg (not that I used it much anyway).
