Thanks for your quick reply. After I’ve made the change I cleared the browser cache and there was no change visible. Also I had W3 Supercache disactivated. But when I checked one day later the changes were applied. So there is probably a caching layer on the server where I am not aware of. Will check that.

Thanks for this explanation. I’ve made the following change in the indicated file:

$td_subcategories = get_categories(array(
'child_of' => $category_id,
'number' => ‘6’ //$show_child_cat
));


But still only 5 sub categories are shown in the mega menu.

Bogdan B. you mention that further customization for all the menu items to show in the mega-menu are required. I am pretty new to the theme. So could you indicate what these further customizations are?
