Fixed it — font awesome fonts needed an .htaccess file addition:

I removed supercache and checked for any other caches, modified the htaccess file and everything is still the same. I am hoping the support guys can come in here so I can give them my login.

I simply used envato wordpress updater plugin which clearly somehow did not work,

–I am running 4.3.1, and plugins are activated.not sure why you think I am on 4.2? Again, I have no idea what happened but I wouldnt be surprised if the database is corrupted.

Concerning the non-optimization, I know enough to be moderately competent but I am by no means a programmer. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you for all your help.
I remove the JS Composer plugin folder and updated to the visual composer plugin you pointed out, flushed the cache and still same problem. I did actually use the same plugin from the theme update package previously.

I also checked the general settings to include posts and pages.

I am at a loss what to do next. I dont want to lose the last half year of work with a fresh install.

I can give you login info if you want to take a look.

Thanks all. I ran WP-optimize as you specified and there is still no change.

Any other suggestions?

EDIT: What I noticed is when I go into a page to edit it, the element is no longer a visual composer element but now text–the block now assumes its just a text block. I need to figure out how to get them recognized back as com poser elements–at least that is what it appears to be. Note in the screencap below the first block is the original showing it thinks its just text, and the second block is a new, added element I just put in:

Thoughts? BTW, are amny of you folks actual support or just being nice by helping?

Thanks for the advice, i tried turning off all plugins except WPBakery Visual composer (VErsion 4.8.1).

Still same effect.

I am pretty sure I did not change functions.php….thanks for all suggestions so far.

Just uploaded the entire new theme; results are exactly the same…..
