PS – My suggestion for the next rev of Newspaper would be to add an option for “default” so changes to the WordPress category sort order via a plugin or changes to functions would be allowed 😉

Alternatively, a custom sort order could be added where the user could chose a custom field to sort by.

Update: Disabling WP-Rocket solved the issue – not sure why since I had the same settings on staging website without issue?
