The issue resolved, but in a different way.

I consulted with a professional developer through my work connection.
He pointed out:
In regards to the broken layout, I believe that it is caused by half a more tag ( “<!–more–>”) being output in the expert of a post. This is commenting out (telling the browser to ignore) a chunk of the page and breaking the layout.

Removing a more tag from 4 posts as per his suggestion resolved the issue.

Thanks for your prompt response. I suspected plug-in first, so I’ve already disabled plug ins one by one, but the issue remains. I installed Newspaper on Friday, so haven’t done much. I’m a complete beginner and purchased the theme on an account that I do not need to touch codes! The codes have not been touched at all. What to do next?
