@Chris No, this would just keep me busy for a bit and wouldn’t offer a solution. I’ve checked the contents of each of them to see if a letter or something else was in there, and there wasn’t. Don’t really feel like re-configuring the whole page and would rather work productively.

I’m not comfortable with giving full-access to the FTP-location. Could you also request the necessary files so I can send you these? Administrator login in WordPress is another story, I can make this for you. Please let me know, after this I’ll send a mail.

The warning is coming back. I’ve checked all the widgets and none of them have a non-numeric value. They’re either empty or filled with a number.

The code works wonderfully, although I meant the ‘td-more-articles-box’.

As far as I understand it, you want me to check if I’ve put a non-numeric value in the offsets of the used widgets? Is there anything else you recommend before I check this? If not, please let me know and I’ll report the results afterwards (including after re-upgrading to PHP 7.1.7).

The specific error that I’m getting doesn’t have much to do with having a clean install or not, it’s a stock NewsMag-file. On top of that, the warning messages go back as far as the clean install. The theme itself works perfectly on 7.1, but the warning messages are found in de server’s log. On 7.0 they don’t.

@Chris S Your answer has cut the waiting time in half, perhaps even a bit more. This is definitely a good solution. Thank you!

That’s an interesting piece of information. I suppose Word Online uses character encoding that gives weird results once entered directly into WordPress. It seems like a bit of hassle to get Word Online to save it into a TXT-file with UTF-8 first, before putting it in an article, but it’s nice to know there is a workaround just in case.

I’ve found the cause of the issue. It happens whenever you use Word Online (Office 365) to write articles and then copy that into the WordPress writing area. Even though no additional code can be found in the text-editor (in which all the HTML-code can be found), it still messes up the article. Somehow it also bypasses the 25-word rule. Don’t ask me how that’s possible, but it apparently is. Anyway, from now on I’m using Google Docs on Chrombook, because that one doesn’t seem to have the issue. Word on Windows 10 (the application, not the online version) works perfect though.

Anyway, this topic can be closed. Thanks anyway for your quick answer and hopefully you can do something with the information provided above for other customers.

The ‘Block 6’ is being used on the frontpage with Visual Composer. Four articles are shown in here. After I’ve published one article on my Chromebook, three of them had 25 words and one of them 40. In the article published on the Chromebook, sentences also break off like described in my previous message, without any code in de text editor to make sense out of it. The frontpage setup is fully setup according to your documentation and based on one of the installed demo’s.

I think we’re not really on the same level, or I’m just misinterpreting your answer for (for which I’m sorry if that’s the case!), but let me ask this question in another way to perhaps make it more clear. As an example, how would I use Custom CSS, inserted in the Newsmag panel, link to – for example – a basis text widget placed in the footer?

If you would like to gain access, I will send you an e-mail with a link to the website and the user credentials to get into it.

Thanks a bunch for your feedback! I’ll first complete building the website (it’s still in development) and then figure out which sizes are being used, after which I will turn the rest off. Just for my information, what happens if I upload an image at a later stage and use a block for which the size has been turned off?

Let me ask it another way. The ‘tech demo’ version of Newsmag brings ‘Newsmag default’ sidebar. I’ve placed 3x ‘[tagDiv] Block 15’ + 1x ‘[TagDiv] Ad blox’ in it. These widgets have no way of using custom added CSS classes.

On the other hand, on the right column of the frontpage (which is made with Visual Composer), I’ve placed a ‘Social Counter’, an ‘Add Box’ and a ‘Block 7’. If I edit these from within the Visual Composer page, it gives an option to add an ‘Extra Class’, in which I place the class which executes the following code, added in the Custom CSS section of the Newsmag panel:

@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) {
.only_desktop { display: none !important; }}

Since the default sidebar doesn’t give me the option to add CSS classes to widgets (for example, I also want to hide certain widgets that are placed in the footer section), they are viewable on phones and tablets.
