All good points. For us our site is pic heavy and was testing VERY SLOW. Whether that was the theme or content was irrelevant (for us). We just needed it to perform better. So hiring someone and spending $40 for them to tweak to get up to an 80/100 score level was worth it.

We are about to start a big promotion to coincide with the official launch of the site. The promo we are doing is with another site that has over 75000 social media fans and over 15000 newsletter subscribers. Before we risked pushing a huge number of those people to our site (and possibly as new subscribers) we wanted to get it running as well as possible.

More piece of mind and this was easiest and quickest solution (for us)

Again, We greatly appreciate all the knowledge here and from everyone. Just wanted some help and found it.

And now we have a good guy to go to if we need some assistance in the future.

And we paid under $40 so it will be money well spent. And it will be time we did not have to take to fumble around and attempt to do it ourselves without the expertise to feel comfortable making changes like suggested in the different threads.

NOT everyone is comfortable making changes to code and other tweaks to the template.

They are still working on it, but improving quickly. Some current stats from tests:

Tested http://www.ilike2complain.com with the Full Page Test in Pingdom Tools.
This specific test was done on August 15 at 08:27:39 from Stockholm, Sweden. The web page took 3.32 s to load, used 92 requests, and weighed in at 1.4 MB.
The Google Page Speed performance grade for this web page is 78/100

On google PageSpeed Insights page the numbers are up to:
Desktop: 76/100
Mobile: 56/100

They have completed 1/2 of the work so far. This is a lot lot better then the 20/100 we had 12 hours ago.

All good.
I’ll report back how the work goes when completed hopefully in the next 24 hours.

I have hired someone to work on the site’s speed. I will update this thread with how they do.
At the time of hiring them the theme’s speed on our site is registering at 23/100 and 31/100.
We will see how they do and if this was positive money spent.

I did exactly as you suggested and the plug in is still NOT showing in the Visual Editor options.

The plug in IS showing in the Widget page.

This is the plug in, which by the way looks great on the site and is far easier to use to directionaly point visitors to Subscribe to the site’s email feed.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/feedburner-form/

Please advise why this wont show up like the other plug ins. thanks

I have seen the page but still having problems. I am hoping that someone here, with experience with the tagDiv templates and speed challenges, will want to make some quick $$ to assist us.

I figured it out by creating another sidebar.

BUT this could be and should be SO MUCH EASIER by just making the widgets available when customizing the home page.

Just a suggestion. Thanks.

i am able to make it show by adding the “widgetised sidebar” to the front page, but that messes up the front page as you can’t edit what is in the block now.

There has to be a better way to make the installed widget show up as one of the options you CAN add to the front page without resorting to using the Widgetised sidebar option.

?

You can see it working fine here on a page inside the side (and on every other page other then the front page) – http://www.ilike2complain.com/category/entertainment/

But on the front page we can not add it as it is not an option to add when trying to edit the “page” – http://www.ilike2complain.com/

This fixed the error for me. Thanks

I just got a 22/100 and 30/100, lol

Obviously we need to do a lot of work on the site’s speed ASAP

Thanks for all the great site examples above. This is a very valuable thread and great to see it as a sticky in the forum.

Here is ours. Still a big work in progress. This is first set up pass as we are still tweaking just about every layout option. The writers will start soon adding a ton of ongoing content.

Suggestions/feedback is always appreciated with any of our sites.

Thanks

makes sense and I understand.

thought it would be easier to have a default setting and then if you use the block anywhere else you can manually tweak if desired.

Either way works of course.

That worked – next question.

Why do you have to update the social counter block in every location?
why cant you just put the info into the Theme Panel –> Social Networks and not have to update the block every time?

I have the social counter on the homepage and on the pages inside the site displaying the individual articles. I have to update the social medial info on the Page and then again in the Widget.

Shouldn’t it just automatically tie back to the info entered on the Social Networks tab of the theme panel? then only have to enter 1 time and the block updates across all pages or places used.

TVDinner

OK I will try that and report back.
I can not get the current version to update no matter what I try.
Will let you know

Thanks

LOL – you never need to hide my friend. You are the best resource this forum has!

We just would like to hear from the theme creators and how this can be an easier process (hopefully)

TVDinner

Alin – thanks
Chris – thanks

Question – why are these adjustments not part of the core code or can be sent out in an update?
What if we are not qualified coders or people who feel comfortable adjusting the core code of the custom theme we purchased here?
We have purchased multiple custom themes before and never had to make this volume of changes to the code simply to make the theme “work right” or “run faster”.

Shouldn’t this be provided by the theme creators initially or in an update?

Chris – please let the theme creators respond. We know you are the resident expert and we have seen your great helpful responses in many many threads. But in this case we would like to hear from the people we purchased the theme from with the answer.

We ask with all respect as we love this theme. Just curious. Please advise. Thanks.

forget it, I figured it out and just manually inserted the code into the footer file.

Thanks

TVDinner

So if I read this correctly I can insert the code you suggest into the footer file manually and that will put our desired ad below the footer box. Going to try now.

Thank you!

I figured it out. Thanks

yup i did notice that. They are nice.

I just deleted and removed Newsmag and reinstalled to start again.

Really need them to advise in my other thread so I can customize the header and ad sizes. The rest is pretty easy to set up.
