Hi,
I’ve test here https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/ , it says that my website is ‘not-mobile-friendly’. It has mentioned two reasons (i): Content wider than screen (ii): Link too close together.
I’ve checked my website thoroughly with robots.txt. Everything is good.
You can check the robots.txt file setting of my website from this link http://www.tycoonzfitness.com/robots.txt
I’ve allowed the googlebot-mobile but the test is not going to clear it.
Please let me know how to solve this issue, Either it’s problem with theme (updated) or something else.
Regards
Hi,
If you check our online demo with google pagespeed you will see there are no issues with it regarding responsiveness: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
The demo represents the ‘untouched’ version of the theme, a ‘clean version’ if you will. If there is a theme problem, then our demo should also have it.
Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then test your site again and compare the results. Plugins can cause such issues when they come in conflict withe the theme or each other.
Thank you!
Hi,
I’ve done what you’ve said but the issue is still unresolved. I know your demo is mobile friendly but the issue with my website is not going to solve. Please help regarding this.
Regards.
Hi Bogdan,
I want to mention here you take too much time in replay. According to your reply, I have just test your theme demo http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/, at the mentioned link. https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/
But the soooooooo many problems as was in case of mine. Both for mobile and desktop.
You can also check directly from the above mentioned link as I am not sending screenshot with this message. I am mentioning some issues that are same for all the websites that are using newspaper theme.
The most important that needs removal immediately.
- Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
- Size tap targets appropriately
There are several others but I am just talking about these two because I don’t know how to tackle & go through with it. Where JavaScript and CSS going to block & what is meant by above-the-fold content? Which tap needs adjustments?
I am mentioning something about me that I am Electrical Engineer and I’ve purchased another domain http://www.tycoonzit.com/, I’d just thought to purchase newspaper again to use it for this site too. But these issues looking huge problem with the theme? If there is any solution then please provide us as soon as possible. Especially the first one needs immediate attention.
I’m not posting it somewhere or themeforest except here, also I don’t want to give -ve reviews about newspaper. As, I know that this stage required so much effort that you’r team and you had made.
If possible then replay in today’s time.
Seeking for reply.

Hi
I’ve checked your site with google mobile friendly tool and noticed that is not fetched properly. Here you can see how google’s result when fetch your site: http://screencast.com/t/U4HBJK6dcP5 – https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tycoonzfitness.com%2F
I’ve also checked you robots.txt file and noticed that you’ve blocked some of site’s resources from being visited by online robots. This could affect the result from google so try to remove the restrictions then check your site again. You can find more detail about setting up robots.txt file here: http://www.robotstxt.org/robotstxt.html
I hope this helps.
Thanks!
Hi,
I’ve modified my robots.txt. Now there is no any blockage of site’s resources, but the result is again same. I’ve also submitted these modifications to the google through webmaster. After passing the 36 hours the result is again same. Let me know how to get rid off?
Please also explain how to ‘Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content’.
Is there any problem with the theme or something else?
Regards
Hello,
Sometimes a few elements on your post will cause this such as tables or iframes. Please test another post that has just default theme elements inside it’s content. (make sure you test a post with pagespeed insights, not the homepage as pages do not get correct results on google page speed.)
As for the render blocking, this is not a theme problem but an optimization you can make. You can use the speedbooster plugin for this but be mindfull of the compatibility list inside the plugin code. You can read more about it here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/speed-booster-questions/
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi,
Ok Bogdan. I’ll tackle this problem later. But right now as was my first question. My site http://www.tycoonzfitness.com/ is not optimized for mobile. You can also check it here,
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
However, I’ve configured robots.txt file correctly, which can be checked here,
http://www.tycoonzfitness.com/robots.txt
It gives two reason
- Content wider than screen
- Links too close together
I’ve checked it several times by disabling all the plugins except V.C. But it seems, not to resolve this.
Please give me any helpful suggestion for this.
Best Regards,
Hi,
If you tried testing the theme in it’s default state, then this could also be a server side issue. Maybe there are certain settings made on the server preventing google from analyzing your site correctly.
Our theme gets a positive response for mobile friendly tests: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=demo.tagdiv.com%2Fnewspaper
Please contact your hosting provider and as if he knows anything on the server that can prevent the google insights.
You can try this on a sub-domain with a fresh install of wp and the theme and see if the mobile friendly test returns the same.
Thank you!
Hi Bogdan,
Thanks for your guide. I did, a to z, what you said. Then I’d come across to the result that I want. Perhaps wordfence plugin was creating the issue. It has wasted my 3 days. Anyway wordfence is good plugin regarding web security. So, how we can trust that plugins we are installing are compatible with newspaper.
Because inspection takes too much time. There should be an appropriate way to determine the plugins compatibility with newspaper. I’m using w3 total cache but in documentation you’ve recommended wp super cache, which we should use for newspaper?
Regards
Hello,
Unfortunately there is no easy way to make sure a plugin is compatible. Up to this point wordfencve was 100% compatible as well. It still is with the proper setting. You can follow this topic to see how to set it up: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/cant-save-theme-settings/
As for the tested and 100% compatible plugins, you can find a list here: http://screencast.com/t/oIFqK1pMb
These are the tested plugins we can guarantee to work 100%. Anything beyond this list is not tested so we cannot say for sure. It might or might not work. This is the case with all premium themes as the code is custom and some plugins cannot recognize it.
Thank you!
