I can’t figure out how to add in a section on the home page like the one in the example below

I can find the regular tabbed content in visual composer, but each button is large and blocky, I want the streamlined look of the theme example.

I guess that you want to achieve the similar layout with your above example, right? Please notice that our theme has a large list of blocks which are available in Visual Composer. Please check here -> http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/ because there you will find all our blocks which are presented in our demo.
