I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask, but here goes. PageSpeed recommends I eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS (10 files in all).

Thanks Catalin. I guess my problem is that, straight out of the box, the Newspaper theme is very slow. I think your guides should spell out the fixes more explicitly given the performance overhead the theme carries. Even a search for the term “render blocking” on your forum keeps circling back to this thread.

The renders blocking are some resources which the theme loads and which can be moved to the footer to increase the page speed. You can do this changes with Speed Booster plugin. For more information about this method, you should consult the above guide.
