Categories not showing correctly

Hi

I put 7 categories in main menu bar. Category global setting is done, and all per category setting are set as default. So all categories should be displayed in the same style.
But when the menu clicked, 2 categories are not showing relevant posts although they have 21 or 32 posts each. Instead, excessively long footer covers the area. The issue is present on desk top view, and mobile view is different. Is it something to do with setting or a bug issue?
Any help would be appreciated.

The site with the issue is http://honjitsurecipe.com
The affected categories are food and life&social

Thank you!

I think that I am having a similar issue on my site: http://www.learnjazzstandards.com. If you scroll down the page to the section that has latest posts and latest podcasts, they are showing the same exact posts, and not filtering based on the categories I selected in Visual Composer. A weird issue I notice, is that it filters correctly if I am logged into the site, but not if you are viewing the site not logged in.

It looks like this happened just recently on the newest update.

Hi,

@sunnysider
Please try to disable all your plugins except Visual composer, check or remove any custom code you might have entered in Theme panel or added to the theme files and clear any caching installed. Then see if the problem is solved. I have not seen this problem before, or had any success trying to replicate it, so most likely it is caused by a plugin or theme customization.

@jkellerer
Any block or other visual composer element that allows sorting will display the posts according to the option set in the element settings – https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/ So a block set to Latest, will always display the latest posts. In your case I see that you are not using the page building elements available by default in Visual composer. Maybe you have a cache that affects the filtering process. It is recommended to use this caching plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ with the mentioned settings.

Thanks

Hi
Thanks for your prompt response. I suspected plug-in first, so I’ve already disabled plug ins one by one, but the issue remains. I installed Newspaper on Friday, so haven’t done much. I’m a complete beginner and purchased the theme on an account that I do not need to touch codes! The codes have not been touched at all. What to do next?

Hi,

@sunnysider
Maybe something went wrong doing the installation process, if no files of the theme have been modified and deactivating all the plugins do not fix this issue. It seems that some of the elements on the page are not functioning properly. Maybe you have some custom code entered in theme panel, added to the theme files or through a child theme. I have not seen this issue before, and this is not happening on a default theme or a clean install.
You could try a clean install using this method – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and use only the plugins provided in the theme package to see if this solves the problem as it should. Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks

The issue resolved, but in a different way.

I consulted with a professional developer through my work connection.
He pointed out:
In regards to the broken layout, I believe that it is caused by half a more tag ( “<!–more–>”) being output in the expert of a post. This is commenting out (telling the browser to ignore) a chunk of the page and breaking the layout.

Removing a more tag from 4 posts as per his suggestion resolved the issue.

Thanks
