Displaying different ads for different site languages

Is there an option to display different sidebar and custom ads in different site languages if we are using the WPML plugin for localisation? When I go to widgets, add two [tagDiv] Ad boxes and set “Display on language” to Deutch or English, for example, then after saving it resets to “All languages” again.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

That would mean you are using an older theme version. The issue you mention with the widget language selector was fixed in the latest theme update. Now you can select the language for which the widgets will appear properly

This is an update guide if you decide to update the theme

Hi Simon,

This is the message I get when trying to install the new theme:
Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme installation failed.

Hi,

Be sure to check the theme update guide

Probably you are uploading the whole theme package, not the actual theme zip file. That would explain the problem.

Thanks

Yes, now it works.

Hi again,

Another question – how can I select the language for each and every ad? For example, our site is localised into 3 languages, we are using Sidebar, Header and all 5 Custom ads, and we want to display EN ads on EN pages, DE ads on DE pages and RU ads on RU pages, but I don’t see how I can do this.

Thanks

Hi,

By a theme option that would not be possible. With a translation plugin that could be possible. We made tests with the WPML plugin, this allows the theme ad spots to be translated (chnage their content by language).

Maybe it would be possible in other ways, like using a plugin that has ad options by language, together with the theme ad spots or entirely with the plugin.

Thanks

Hi Simon,

I’ve just tried to follow your suggestions and localise our home page. After saving the localisation, none of us can access Pages anymore, here is what we see:

403 Forbidden
Permission denied. Our sentries tell us that you should not be here.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

I did not see that message before. That message is not coming from our theme or WordPress even. Do you maybe have a security plugin or server security module active?
Seems to mention to contact support, maybe you should do that if you have an idea what displays it. Also contact the hosting provider, they might have an idea.

Thanks

Hi Simon,

We’ve just solved it with the WP support.

Could you point me to the exact place where I can translate the theme ad spots with WPML, please?

Thanks

Hi,

There are a few topics you can check to see how you can find the theme strings
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/theme-translation-with-wpml-in-spanish/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wpml-and-header-text-logo/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wpml-theme-translate-logo/

If the chosen strings are not visible in the translation after adding them, it could be the problem from here (this solved many similar issues)
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/cant-add-string-for-translation-from-admin-strings/

Thanks
