Widgets in Footer 1,2,3 and New Sidebar Keep Disappearing From Site

Hey guys,

My widgets located in the three-footer section, and sidebar keep disappearing from my site, and it is getting quite frustrating. Every day, I have to re-add my Twitter, Facebook, and OptinMonster widget to the footer section of my site, and the social network widget to my sidebar. After I add them, I always make sure that I click on save and then don, and when I double check on my site all is fine. However, I will double check the next day, and all will be gone.

What am I doing wrong?

Here is my site: http://www.itsallabouttheparty.ca

Here is the coding that I am adding for my Twitter and Facebook widgets:

Footer 1
Tweets by allbouttheparty <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js&#8221; charset=”utf-8″></script>

Footer 2
<iframe src=”https://www.facebook.com/plugins/page.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fitsallaboutthepartyy%2F&tabs=timeline&width=340&height=500&small_header=false&adapt_container_width=true&hide_cover=false&show_facepile=true&appId=1428437890743370&#8243; width=”340″ height=”500″ style=”border:none;overflow:hidden” scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ allowTransparency=”true” allow=”encrypted-media”></iframe>

Footer 3
OptinMonster Widget

New Sidebar:
Social Network Icons
OptinMonster Sidebar widget

I added them just now so that you can see them, and investigate but they will disappear in a few hours again.

Hi,

Now that is unusual, so you enter the widgets there and they appear. Then they disappear after a while? Never saw that before.

I believe they are gone now – https://www.screencast.com/t/JIHl6GlJHBQ
Sidebars are also empty.

Have you tried with other widgets for example, to see if the same happens. What if you temporarily deactivate all plugins except theme plugins and use the same widgets, does the same happen eventually?
Widgets may be moved to the inactive area after a theme update, but not periodically like that.
Also check if there is enough WP memory

I have exactly the same problem

Hi,

@musicindustweet
Maybe JeanFrancoisDP solved the problem in his case and can share the conclusions. Try the same as suggested and monitor the situation. Most important is to test without other plugins than the theme plugins.

There would be a problem with the sidebar widgets if one would use various characters in the sidebar names
https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/
But the footer sections are predefined and can’t be renamed.

Let us know if you identify the cause of the problem.

I am seeing this problem today too. It did begin happening after a long day of development work, so it could be a result to additional plugins.

All the widgets kept moving to the Inactive area. This happened 3 times. On the 4th time, I don’t see any widgets in that area.

One additional detail … when I would add the widgets back to where they should be, I could not set the Visibility (Jetpack feature). However, the widgets did appear with the right visibility so it must have kept the details in the database.

I’m upping the memory allocations to see if that helps.

If you have any other thoughts, please pass them along.

The site is still in development: https://fishbaldwin.dream.press/

Thanks for your help on this. I tracked my issue down to a plugin causing this issue. Here’s the plugin that caused the problem: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wunderground/
