I’m trying to build a Single Post Template which will control the look of all Single Post pages.
I started from a completely blank Single Post Template from the Cloud Library. On the Single Post Template I have created two columns in a row so that the elements are side-by-side. This renders correctly when I view the Single Post Template.
However, when I view a Single Post to which the Template has been applied, the two columns are condensed into a single column.

I have tried globally disabling any side-bars, both on the Single Post Template and on Single Posts, but I’ve been unable to get the Single Post to correctly show both columns side-by-side.
I’m not sure what else to try.

Yes this is the same thing I did — I started with the Single Post blank cloud template and then added a row and split the row into two columns just like you showed.

Hi unfortunately these are the same steps I followed but the issue is still present. Here is a video following the steps:
When I preview the template itself, it looks correct. However after this I set the newly created template as the Default Site Post Template. Upon loading any normal post, the columns I created collapse into a single column:

Also, since it is an older version of the theme, there is a possibility that it may not work properly. I saw that you also use WP Bakery and it is in conflict with tagDiv Composer/tagDiv Cloud Library.
So, I gladly recommend you to shift from WPBakery to Composer, because WPBakery conflicts with our page builder. We recommend using cloud/PRO templates to have the possibility to edit them with the tagDiv Composer which contains a lot of functions and features, please check our tutorial here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
Many changes have been made over the years, and the latest version of the theme is 11.4.
Also, if you want to update the theme I recommend that you update the theme on a staging website and make sure that you have activated the tagDiv Standard pack plugin to keep the look of the website.

I don’t see that top bar that you are showing there where you set the template to Global. I used the Theme Panel to set the template to be the default template for Single Posts.
As for WPBakery and Composer… we are only using the plugins that were included with the Newspaper theme installation… why would they be in conflict?

As I said above, major changes have been made, and various options have been implemented, we still provided the WPBakery for old users, but we have long recommended using only a one-page builder, not both, because some options in tagDiv Composer may no longer work due to WPBakery.
Also, please make sure you have set the same style for all posts.

Hi, we’ve upgraded our Newspaper theme to the latest version (11.4). I have re-tested the issue following the steps you shared previously (https://www.screencast.com/t/l1ED4kGni).
The same issue remains. When I preview the newly built page, the columns are side-by-side as they should be.
But once I set this to be the default template and then go view a real post, the elements are forced into a single column (like so: https://imgur.com/a/RpwQVKs).
