This is what we get when we try to install the theme:

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme installation failed.
Please help us understand what we need to do to rectify this.

You are probably uploading the whole theme package. You have to upload only the theme zip file, not the whole package which contains other items
