my website is http://www.financialthing.com I want to set the first link HOMEPAGE as home page but this page isn’t showing up under the Pages list:
It shows under the menu as a page:
I don’t understand why this page isn’t showing under the pages list so i can set as the homepage?
thanks Chris….I’m not seeing how to change this page to a Custom Link?
Also I can’t even find this page to edit it, there is an 404 error on the page.
You would go to appearance > menus
then select the menu you want to edit.
You can add new items to menu, and one of the choices one left side is to add a new menu item, such as custom link, which you then create, add to menu list, them move to the position you want.
See:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_Screen#Custom_Links
little trial and error … I always forget that until I need to do it; just went through same thing setting up a WooCommerce setup, and the home was going to the custom home “page” and not the “website” — which I think is same issue you’re having.
SOrry I don’t have way to post a screenshot here at moment.
Tagdiv support may have better, simpler answer. 🙂
Hello broadstone,
I see your homepage is already set to a page called ‘Home’. You cannot have 2 homepages set from WordPress. You can create your own page and set it to the homepage link you added in your menu.
You can also change the desired WP homepage from here: http://screencast.com/t/ANzGBnye.
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Thanks Bogdan, I understand. How do I edit this Homepage when it isn’t showing up in my pages list? Is this because it was one of the template pages?
OK,
I created a test page and added it in the main menu. Then i deleted the page and the main menu still has a link to my deleted page: http://screencast.com/t/KXIBW3Vr. See where this is going? You had a page named like that, and a link in the menu created for it, but in the meantime the page got deleted and the link does not work anymore. If you want to keep the name:’HOMEPAGE’, you can create a new page and name it the same.
I hope this sheds some light on the subject 🙂
Thanks.
Normally a static page designed to build custom home page is not intended for public, but only for system builder to use as framework for loading the main page …
meaning for home page you want people to go to:
yoursite.vvv
not
yoursite.vvv/homepage
so it’s correct for “homepage” not to be linkable or loadable —
you instead make the link which SAYS “home” or “homepage” in menu link to just the actual home for web, which would be yoursite.vvv …
did that help ?
Maybe I’m not getting it either 😉
ok thanks Chris…
So I built a new page from scratch using the Sport template, I have Big Grid block and now the Big Grid isn’t populated with any content and I can’t figure out how to do this:
http://www.financialthing.com/sport/
This is frustrating.I wish the support documentation was more in depth on how to do these tasks.

Hello,
I have tested this behavior at my end and it displays like that when you do not have any posts to display in that specific category. Make sure you add posts to the category you specified in the grid settings or select a different category which has posts set to it http://screencast.com/t/CWxh0rTwt
This applies to more than just big grids. If you do not have any posts in a specific category, it will not show up on your website.
Thank you!
Understood…so where do I set the category that will appear in the grid? I still can’t figure this out.
Hi,
The screenshot i provided above shows this exact thing: http://screencast.com/t/CWxh0rTwt. In visual composer, when you add a new element the settings appear by default. You can enter block settings again by clicking on the pencil icon that appears when you hover over a block.
Please read our documentation for more info on block settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-tutorial/
Thank you!
ok but I have this Grid set to show all categories and still nothing is showing. I have tried setting single category also but no luck.
Hello broadstone,
